Common Name: Pacific Sanddab

Scientific Name: Citharichthys sordidus

Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family: Animalia, Chordata, Actinopterygii, Pleuronectiformes, Paralichthyidae

Diet: Invertebrates and fish

Habitat: Eelgrass, soft seafloors, areas with shell hash, estuaries

Range: Kodiak Island in Alaska to Cabo San Lucas, in Mexico. Also found off Peru

Identification: Oval shape, both eyes on the right side of body, color varies with black and white present

Reproduction: Multiple spawning sessions within a spawning season

Behavior: Prefer waters cooler than 13℃ and will leave if too warm

Predators: Larger fish, seabirds, seals, sea lions, dolphins, porpoises, and squids
